Ward 5 School Trustee Candidate – Dan Otsuji

dan.otsuji@gmail.com

Dan Otsuji was raised in Oakville and attended Oakville School and graduated from Arthur Meighen High School. After moving away for post-secondary education, he chose to call Oakville home to be near family and teach his children small town values. His two children now attend Oakville School and he is proud to have an opportunity to represent Ward 5. Dan's 20 year career as a pilot leaves him with time to be an involved member of the local community to set an example for his children and continue the family legacy. He is passionate about community involvement and is currently the president of the local Lion's Club and a volunteer with other local organizations.

Dan's goal as school trustee is to ensure a voice for our community and the only remaining rural school in the division. He will seek to understand the unique issues facing our students and staff and ensure a practical discourse on the relevant topics. Having history in our small-town makes him exceptionally qualified to advocate for change or tradition as necessary. He looks forward to open conversation met with integrity, diversity and a fresh perspective.

Justine Richardson spent four years working in customer service and the food service industry. Throughout school she achieved Food safety, First Aid, CPR and Highway Flagging. She is a Roving Campus graduate who acknowledges extreme benefit from the program.

Justine now uses her people skills and passion for social services at the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation as a Youth Intern for Communities Building Youth Futures. Justine recognizes that she would have profited from the help of a youth mentor during her time in the school system. Her vision is to be the person she needed in school.
